About the role
WorkPac seeks a Specialist Ecohydrologist in Perth for Rio Tinto. Lead ecohydrology projects, refine assessment methods, analyze ecosystems, and collaborate with stakeholders. Degree in relevant field, Pilbara experience preferred.
Key responsibilities
Lead or support ecohydrology and EIA projects, riparian vegetation surveys, and research to innovate inland water and ecosystem assessments.
Develop, refine, and review hydrogeological and biological assessment methods for continuous improvement.
Analyze ecosystems and landforms using ground and remote data to evaluate function and trends.
Advise internal approvals specialists on biological values.
Collaborate with the approvals team, project stakeholders, and other SMEs.
Prepare and review scopes of work, technical reports, and datasets.
Build strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders and technical specialists.
Promote an inclusive culture by collaborating with peers across the Environmental Approvals team.
Skills and Experience required
Degree in botany, ecology, hydrology, environmental engineering, environmental science, or equivalent.
Experience leading or contributing to ecological or hydrological projects, preferably in the resources sector or Pilbara region.
Knowledge of Pilbara flora/vegetation and field survey practices.
Strategic thinking and ability to provide technical inputs for environmental approvals.
Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
Strong partnering skills and influence.
Proficient in time management and prioritizing complex tasks.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with quick decision-making ability.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive stakeholder relationships.
Experience with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS.
